Koldy’s Review: Umrao Jaan

In my opinion, movie makers should not try for remakes especially for classics.
If u thinks aishwarya is beautiful enough to spend 3 hours (and 150 bucks)
then only u should go to the movie.
Abhishek is a charmer as nawab sultaan ali with impeccable ordu pronunciation
and definitely better than farookh sheikh but this is not the case with aishwarya
and music of the movie.
This movie really misses the charm of rekha and feathery voice of asha.

“Dil cheez kya hai aap meri jaan lijiye “ is undoubtedly better than
“salaam karne ki aarzoo hai ,idhar jo dekho salaam kar lein” .

Koldy’s Review : Woh Lamhe

Again, Mahesh bhatt & group comes with their tested formula of
“low budget good music and atleast one smooch” .
Kangna plays a mental patient which have a allergy from wearing clothes(u know that
I am joking but it really seems from the dresses of kangna)
Music is awesome , pritam done a good job ,may be pritam stealing the tunes from somewhere else like “ya ali “ of gangster. It’s a straight copy of middle east song ya ghali .
One thing is truly evident that new generation of Pakistani singers are far more better than Indian singers.

On the contrary to the title ,movie is not rocking. songs are more than required.
sush as usual looks awesome and the carried the role of rockstar and mother very well.

I think the director of the movie likes to KISS, not that kiss guyz it means keep it simple stupid .The movie is so simple sometimes you doubt really are we watching a movie?
First half is good and the people expecting a next “socha na tha” but the climax when the audience expects a twist it goes straight.
Abhay deol really differs from other deol’s ,not shouting like sunny ,not confused like bobby in the dilemma of being a action hero or emotional hero.

Koldy’s Review:Omkara

After critics acclaim and accolades for his adaptation of Shakespeare’s Macbeth as Maqbool , vishal adapted master’s another classic othello as Omkara.
Songs with high lyrical value, Dilogues in up dialect with abundance of abusive terms
and great performance by saif ali khan as crude,rude “Langda tyagi”,the movie has something which makes it differ from other bollywood assembly line masala movies.
Vishal done a great job with music and screenplay .

Numberplates Poetry

I don’t know whether the term “Numberplates Poetry” really exists or not, but i always refer the lines written on the number plates of trucks and buses as Numberplates Poetry.
Recently I saw some lines on the trucks during my journey from Gwalior to Bhopal

“Idhar dekh jaalim ,tammanna hum bhi rakhte hai “
Agar tum 80 chalte ho to ,90 hum bhi chalte hai”

And

“Neem ki lakdi chandan se kam nahin”

Koldy’s Review: Banaras

I think the Times of India gave banaras a one and a half rating because there was a really deserving candidate for one star rating ie sawan .other wise they surely gave banaras one star rating (I don’t think they have lesser rating than that).
Banaras is a simple love story with banaras city as backdrop and caste system as a villain. the movie tells its very simple to see some ghosts in banaras and by just going to banaras , person can overcome from last stages of lung cancer. I think doctors of banaras will have to shift from their professions.

Findstr Command

Cursing windows for don’t have egrep like text searching facility,just use findstr.
Findstr command searches for pattern of text in files using regular expression.
For eg findstr “kuldeep*” kuldeep.txt( for searching in kuldeep.txt).

Wah Wah Gwalior

I am a guy of small town Gwalior, working in gurgaon right now. I spent almost 10 years in Gwalior. I have done my schooling From RamKrishna Vidhya Mandir and done my engineering in computer science from MITS. Gwalior has a special place in my heart and its reflected in my habits also .I always prefer roadside chai wale than baristas or café coffee day ,small one screen theater than PVR and DT multiplexes .I got this poem from the forwarding mails. The author is unknown to me , but kudos to the author.

Few days back, I got a nice forwarded mail .I also agree to the theory ” if u love someone just say it” .


10th Grade
As I sat there in English class,
I stared at the girl next to me.
She was my so called 'best friend'.
I stared at her long, silky hair,
and wished she was mine.
But she didn't notice me like that,
and I knew it. After class,
she walked up to me and asked me for
the notes she had missed the day before.
I handed them to her.
She said 'thanks' and gave me a kiss on the cheek.
I want to tell her, I want her to know
that We don't want to be just friends,
I love her but I'm just too shy,
and I don't know why.

11th grade
The phone rang. On the other end,
it was her. She was in tears,
mumbling on and on about how her
love had broke her heart.
She asked me to come over because
she didn't want to be alone, So I did.
As I sat next to her on the sofa,
I stared at her soft eyes, wishing she was mine.
After 2 hours, one Drew Barrymore movie,
and three bags of chips, she decided to go home.
She looked at me, said 'thanks' and gave me a kiss
on the cheek..

and I don't know why.

Senior year
One fine day she walked to my locker.
"My date is sick" she said, well,
I didn't have a date, and in 7th grade,
we made a promise that if neither of us had dates,
we would go together just as 'best friends'.
So we did. That night, after everything was over,
I was standing at her front door step.
I stared at her as she smiled at me
and stared at me with her crystal eyes.
Then she said- "I had the best time, thanks!"
and gave me a kiss on the cheek.
I want to tell her,
I want her to know
that We don't want to be just friends,
I love her but I'm just too shy,
and I don't know why.

Graduation
A day passed, then a week, then a month.
Before I could blink, it was graduation day.
I watched as her perfect body floated like an angel
up on stage to get her diploma.
I wanted her to be mine-but
she didn't notice me like that, and I knew it.
Before everyone went home,
she came to me in her smock and hat,
and cried as I hugged her.
Then she lifted her head from my shoulder
and said- 'you're my best friend, thanks' and
gave me a kiss on the cheek.
I want to tell her, I want her to know

I love her but I'm just too shy,
and I don't know why.

Marriage
Now I sit in the pews of the church.
That girl is getting married now.
and drive off to her new life,
married to another man.
I wanted her to be mine,
but she didn't see me like that,
and I knew it.
But before she drove away,
she came to me and said 'you came !'.
She said 'thanks' and kissed me on the cheek.
I want her to know that
We don't want to be just friends,
I love her but I'm just too shy,
and I don't know why.

Death
Years passed, I looked down at the coffin
of a girl who used to be my 'best friend'.
At the service, they read a diary entry
she had wrote in her high school years.
This is what it read:
"I stare at him wishing he was mine;
but he doesn't notice me like that,
and I know it. I want to tell him,
I want him to know that
We don't want to be just friends,
I love him but I'm just too shy,
and I don't know why.
I wish he would tell me he loved me !
..........'I wish I did too...'
I thought to my self, and I cried.

So if you are in love, do yourself a favour .... Tell her/ him that you love them.
They won't be there ................... Forever ......

Rang De Basanti

On the republic day eve, me and my friends went to watch a movie ‘Rang De Basanti’. The movie has every ingredient of a successful movie ,gripping direction by Rakesh Mehra ,rocking music by A.R Rehman and a star like Aamir khan.
By this movie, aamir proved again his versatility and courage to take different roles over shahrukh. Its also a great comeback for rakesh mehra as a director after Aks. The good thing about the movie is that it conveys its message effectively without any lecturebazi.

One Night @ Call Center

I finished the novel one night @ call center yesterday night .Not as catchy and gripping like 5point someone but ,although the author Chetan Bhagat is just two novel old ,the autobiographical style of story telling is now become the signature style of chetan which is also evident in this novel. The novel is not of ‘must read’ series .but if u have spare time u can read this.

IMAX Think Big

Last sunday i went to see the harry potter movie in the newly opened IMAX theatre in the Delhi region.although the ticket rates are slightly on the higher side(200rs per person obviously)and the distance between theatre and my home is nearly 50km, watching the movie on screen 80 feet* 80 feet in dimension with 12,000 watts of digital sound is quite an experience.
